Alternative Cannabinoids: Delta 8, Delta 9, Delta 10, and THCO

Delta 8, Delta 9 & Delta 10, and even THC-O! What do they mean and how are they manufactured?

Alternative cannabinoids have been all the rage lately as many states are still navigating legalization. If you are wondering what these cannabinoids, Delta 8, Delta 10, and THC-O, are about, then you have come to the right place. We are going to break down what these cannabinoids are and how they are manufactured. Let’s dig in!

What is Delta 8 Cannabinoid from High CBD Hemp Flower?

Delta 8 is one of the most prominent organic compounds or cannabinoids found in the hemp and cannabis plants. Delta 8, often referred to as the cousin of Delta 9, can only be extracted from industrial hemp plants that are federally legal as of 2018 when the momentous Farm Bill was signed removing hemp grown with less than 0.03% THC. With a milder “high”, but still a euphoric effect this prominent organic compound quickly gained popularity, especially in states where medicinal and recreational cannabis is still illegal or heavily regulated.

How is Delta-8 Cannabinoid Manufactured?

With so many new cannabis-derived compounds hitting the CBD market a common question is, how is Delta 8 made? While there are at least 3 different methods for extracting the Delta8 cannabinoid, only one is clean and offers you a quality product that you can feel good consuming for health or recreational purposes. The best process to produce Delta-8 involves extracting cannabinoids directly from hemp plants which is a 3-step process we’ve described below.

  1. The Catalyzation Process: This first step is to convert a 98% CBD isolate into THC, this is done by combining with an acid compound and agitating. Once the desired amount of Delta-8 is present the solution is neutralized.
  2. The Filtration or Washing Process: Neutralizing the solution efficiently is imperative and we trust that our source of Delta products is equipped and fully trained in the entire process of creating D8 from CBD. In this process, the goal is to ensure that the final product is clean from any detectable levels of the acid that was used in the catalyzation process.
  3. The Distillation & Testing Process: In this phase, the organic solvent will be removed, and the D8 THC oil will be distilled. At this point batch samples are retained and sent to a third-party accredited laboratory to conduct potency and residual solvent assays. While extraction of Delta cannabinoids is not the most chemical-free process it is the only efficient way to single out that one ingredient and our main goal is to source our Delta products from a reliable manufacturer equipped and trained to perform this process resulting in a safe product that has been tested.

Delta 8 THC Cannabinoid Health Benefits

Delta 8 THC can be an effective pain reliever for chronic pain. Cannamom and Weed Mom author, Danielle Simone Brand often touts its benefits for migraines on her Instagram page. It can also provide relief for those with chronic back pain and other similar pain that doesn’t respond to conventional treatments or over-the-counter products. Medicinal use of cannabis may be supreme for anxiety and depression, not everyone has legal access to cannabis flower so Delta 8 is a legal alternative that can calm and soothe the whole body. Again, legal access, unfortunately, limits those most in need such as cancer patients suffering from pain, and lacking appetite. Delta 8 like medical marijuana can increase appetite so the patient receives vital calories and can ease pain and anxiety.

Effects of Delta-8 THC on Anxiety

Delta 8 is supposed to be a very calming cannabinoid, and it can make you feel relaxed without making your muscles heavy. People who get panic attacks from high THC strains might want to give Delta 8 a shot because it's rarely said to cause paranoia or anxiety during or after use. Delta8 is derived from CBD dominant hemp plants, which help to balance the endocannabinoid system due to the entourage effect of the additional cannabinoids working synergistically. With that said, just like any THC product, consuming high doses can cause anxiety, so it is always best to start low and assess how you are feeling.

Delta 8 THC helps in relieving anxiety by making the B1 receptors more stable. These receptors are responsible for controlling anxiety. Delta 8 THC also helps in regulating brain functions, thereby stabilizing our nervous system. Delta 8 THC is considered milder than other cannabinoids like Delta-9, but cognitively stronger than CBD which is known for its anxiety relief properties.

How to buy Delta 8 products for sale?

Delta 8 THC is sold the same way as CBD products. The most common options for Delta 8 include D8 flower by the ounce, tinctures, Delta8 gummies, and Delta8 vape cartridges.

SOCIETY’s Plant Delta 8 on Hemp Flower:

You may be curious as to how Delta 8 THC can be found in the form of hemp flower. To manufacture Delta8, it has to go through a complicated extraction process because D8 is not naturally abundant in hemp plants. Essentially, we start with an artisanal smokeable hemp flower and evenly distribute the Delta 8 THC solution over it. This creates a smokeable Delta 8 flower. Inhaling the benefits of cannabinoids through smoking or vaping results in near-immediate effects, so always start slow and assess how you feel.

Difference between Delta 8 and Delta 9 from Hemp Plants

Delta9 extracted from hemp, is done through a similar process as Delta-8. When the cannabinoid is extracted from the hemp plant, it is then used to create your favorite gummies or vape cartridges. Hemp-derived Delta 9 THC is legal, because it is hemp-derived, and NOT derived from high-THC marijuana plants. Since the percentage of the Delta 9 cannabinoid is less than the limits of the law which is 0.3% Delta9 by weight, this allows the hemp-derived Delta 9 to be legally shipped directly to your home.

Delta 9 vs. Delta 8 Cannabinoids

"The only difference between Delta 8 and Delta-9-THC is where that double bond is located on the chain of carbon atoms," according to ACS Laboratory. "Delta 8 has a double bond on the 8th carbon chain, and Delta 9 has a double bond on the 9th carbon chain. This seems like a small distinction, but it's significant enough to produce slightly different cognitive and physical effects."

During extraction, the main difference between the conversion of CBD to Delta 8 THC compared to Delta 9 THC is the presence of water. If water is present, it will lead to a higher Delta 8 concentration. Likewise, if the goal is to make Delta-9 THC, then solvents that have little to no moisture will produce a better yield.

How does Delta 8 vs Delta 9 feel?

Both Delta 8 and Delta 9 will offer a euphoric effect that is reminiscent of marijuana and could offer a substitute in states where cannabis is still fully illegal. As far as the health benefits of Delta 8 and Delta 9, they are similar to consuming THC flower medicinally.  Gummies and oil created with hemp-derived cannabinoids will increase appetite, induce a deeper sleep, quell chronic pain, and ease stress and anxiety, and under clinical supervision, they may be ideal for patients experiencing PTSD, fibromyalgia, nerve disorders, depression, and insomnia.

Why try Delta-9 Gummies or CBD Gummies?

CBD Hemp Flower, gummies, and tinctures are widely available, but CBD gummies are the most approachable entry point to try High-CBD Hemp products. While the effects of CBD from hemp flower are mild, CBD does offer relief from stress, anxiety, pain, and inflammation. CBD Hemp Flower, gummies, and tinctures are widely available, and Society’s Plant offers a range of options for sale. It is through smokable CBD Hemp Flower that we’ve created a platform to help end the stigma of cannabis and educate further on the benefits of cannabis as a whole plant. Our goal at SOCIETY is to offer a full spectrum of cannabinoids from hemp flower to help you care for your specific needs and improve your wellness.

Society’s Plant Hemp-Derived Delta 9 & CBD Gummies

Due to the popularity of the famed cannabinoid, Delta-9, we have a new hemp-derived Delta9 gummy that is balanced with CBD.  SOCIETY offers a clean, high-quality product to give a traditional Delta9 euphoric high in a dose of 12.5mg of Delta9 THC and 15mg of CBD in each gummy. Delta-9 is a form of THC that is deemed legal due to loopholes in the farm bill of 2018. Delta-9 is extracted by the same method as Delta 8 and is extracted from federally compliant hemp cultivars, keeping the THC by weight under .3%.

Will Hemp-Derived Delta-9 THC get me high?

Just as “THC from weed” is psychoactive, so is Delta-9 from hemp, this is great for a recreational high or to support complex medical diagnoses such as seizure-inducing illnesses, cancer, fibromyalgia, PTSD, and ADHD. Delta-9 is also commonly consumed for pain management in lieu of pain pills, and for sleep instead of habit-forming medications.

The first step to creating a Society’s Plant CBD & Delta-9 gummy is to make sure they taste delicious because we want you to feel the pleasure and indulgence of this master herb that’ll melt your stress away. It is a top priority to offer CBD gummy products that are trustworthy and high-quality. We have chosen to work with a manufacturer that is equipped to deliver the cleanest, safest, and most effective products allowing you to experience the healing power of natural products without worry. We recognize that gummies are not the cleanest way to consume hemp products because there is added sugar, but we are also sensitive to the desires of our customers who want an alternative to hemp flower on its own; if you’re only desire is to take the purest route of cannabis consumption, then check out our “Smokeable High-CBD Flower Guide”, for all you need to know about our artisanal small-batch CBD flower.

Difference between Delta 9 vs. Delta 8 vs. Delta 10

Delta 10 (similar to Delta 8 and Delta 9) is a cannabinoid that is only present in trace amounts in federally legal hemp plants. In order to access the benefits of these psychoactive cannabinoids, they need to be extracted through a complicated process that must always be done in a fully equipped and trustworthy facility.

Delta 8, Delta 9, and Delta-10 are all forms of THC. The chemical structure of Delta 8 and Delta 9 and Delta-10 are almost the same—except for the chain-like bond of atoms, which occurs on the eighth carbon atom for Delta 8, the ninth for Delta-9, and the tenth for Delta-10. All these Delta varieties offer psychoactive effects to varying degrees with Delta-9 being the traditional “weed high”.

The benefits of the Delta cannabinoids are the same, ranging from chronic conditions such as cancer and PTSD to everyday issues such as sleeplessness and pain. While they are not sourced from high THC marijuana plants, they are a helpful substitute for medicinal THC cannabis in a state that still does not have a medical program. Our hope is that one day the need for “substitute” products is not necessary and all medical patients can access this safe plant for healing, but until then, we will continue to offer a clean option for customers to consume alternative cannabinoids.

What is Delta-10 and the Benefits of Delta-10?

Delta10 is a close molecular relative to delta 9 THC. Delta-10 offers a euphoric high in a slightly milder psychotropic effect than its cousin D9. Some Delta-10 consumers report feeling very clear-headed, energetic, and less stressed, all at the same time.

Many people feel that Delta10 has a stimulating and energizing effect that is comparable to a Sativa strain of THC.

Delta 10 often provides a completely functional experience that is mood-boosting with an abundant amount of creativity.

Is Delta 10 Cannabinoid Safe for Consumption?

It’s important to be informed on where your Delta cannabinoid products come from, how they are manufactured, and why you’re consuming them. The safety concerns lie in the chemicals used in the extraction process; it is critical to only consume Delta products that have been lab-tested at an accredited lab to ensure they have been purged of all chemicals and contaminants and are safe for consumption. Society’s Plant proudly displays lab reports for our products on the product listing page as well as a “Lab Results” page that links to each lab report for a product.

What is the legal status of Delta 8, Delta 9 & Delta 10 THC products?

Due to the varying legal status of marijuana in many states and to comply with the 2018 Farm Bill, our Delta 8, Delta 9, and Delta 10 are extracted from hemp flower.  The 2018 Farm Bill states that hemp and hemp products contain “a Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”

That means that there can be 3 milligrams of THC for every 1 gram of dry weighted product. If an edible weighs a total of 5 grams, there can be 15 milligrams of THC present in said product. Therefore, as long as the THC is extracted from hemp, the product complies with the 2018 Farm Bill.

What is THC-O Cannabinoid?

If you enjoy Delta-8 THC and like the idea of a more intense and even spiritual high, then THC-O may be right for you. THC-O is the acetylated version of Delta-8 THC. It shares a similar chemical profile to Delta 8, Delta 9, and Delta 10 THC. The acetyl group in THC-O molecules allows the compound to be more easily absorbed so that more of it reaches your systems for greater cerebral and body effects.

Nicknamed the “spiritual cannabinoid”, THCO comes from natural CBD extracted from the hemp plant. The experience of consciously consuming THC-O is best done in the evening in a safe environment where you’ll feel comfortable immersing yourself in the experience of introspection and reflection. Deepen the experience by planning a meditation session or music session.

Due to the time, it takes for THC-O to metabolize go slowly with this plant remedy, giving ample amount of time to feel the effects without over-consuming, and being especially thoughtful of the higher potency of this cannabinoid, THCO appears to share a similar safety profile to other types of THC, including Delta 8, Delta 9, and Delta 10. To ensure the THC-O products you use are safe, make sure you buy only from a reliable manufacturer who uses independent, third-party lab testing to ensure quality, consistency, and purity.
